Co-Founders Dr. Rafael Pagés and Konstantinos Amplianitis of Volograms | The Leadership Lab
Dr. Rafael Pagés is Volograms Co-founder and CEO of Volograms. Rafael has been working on the 3D reconstruction field for more than 10 years, both as an entrepreneur and also as a researcher. Before co-founding the company, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin where he conducted his main research in free-viewpoint and volumetric video, and computer vision. He received his Ph.D. in Communication Technologies and Systems in 2016 from Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. In 2011, he founded and led another startup where he gained experience with telepresence and volumetric video. As Volograms co-founder, he was nominated to Enterprise Ireland HPSU Founder of the Year Award in 2019.
Dr. Konstantinos Amplianitis is Volograms’ co-founder & Chief Operating Officer (COO) where he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company such as people management, talent sourcing and hiring, project management and financials. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany in 2017. Konstantinos brings strong expertise in the areas of computer vision and machine learning both from his PhD studies but also from his industrial experience at Siemens Mobility Technology & Innovation Group in Berlin. Before co-founding Volograms, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, where he conducted research in the areas of volumetric video, 2D human segmentation and natural image matting. Throughout his career, Konstantinos has supervised the work of several students, leading to papers in top tier conferences in computer vision.
